June 2025 Update
I’m not dead yet! It seems that God has more fruitful labor for me before he brings me home (Phil. 1:22).
August 1, 2020, I was commissioned by Bethlehem Baptist Church to work with Dieudonne Tamfu in planting a church-planting church, in helping to start the Cameroon Extension Site of Bethlehem College and Seminary, and in training Cameroonians to see and preach the glorious grace of God in Christ from the Greek text of Ephesians. What a privilege to have invested these last five year in this significant work. I could not have done it without your prayer and financial support!
Despite my pancreatic cancer it seems I have more time to give. The overall five-year survival rate is 13%. As of now, I seem to be part of this minority. My next scan is in July. If the scan is clear, I plan to go back to Cameroon in September. Resting in God’s sovereign good pleasure, I decided to purchase my plane ticket last week!
Many of you who receive my updates have been financially supporting Julie and me and this work faithfully, month after month, year after year. We cannot thank you enough. All of you have been praying. Thank you so much for this. I have attached a letter from TLI’s Ministry Operation Manager, Jim Peet. He is sharing with you our financial need as we begin our next five-year chapter. He explains why we need to ask you to pray with us that God will supply an additional $3800 a month (gulp!). May God clearly lead you as you prayerfully ponder his urgent request. Pray for Julie and me that we will not fret but will continue to lean on God’s provision through you and through anyone else whom God will direct to partner with us.
I plan to do a group zoom call on Saturday, July 11, at 10am (CST) and another one on Monday, July 21 at 7pm to connect with as many of you as are able. I’ll give a summary of the last five years and share what we are aiming at for the next five years, Lord willing. Hope you can make one of these two times. The presentation will be less than an hour (join in for as much or as little as you want). There will be time for Q & A for those who want to stick around. I so wish this could be in person over a cup of coffee or a root beer float. If any of you want to get together in person, it would be my joy. Just give me a call at 612-616-5140 and we’ll set something up. My schedule is very flexible until the middle of August when my teaching schedule resumes.
